The numbers on the Carb, where are they?
« on: September 09, 2010, 04:52:50 AM »
Where are those numbers on the carburetor hiding at? It's bugging me. I can't see them. Wordslinger told me to check the numbers and I can't see them. In the met-in box the little cap or cover is missing so I can actually see the little cover where I expected the numbers to be, but they aren't there. Should I take the two little screws off to find them? My luck a spring will pop out and roll away or something so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows off hand where they are located.

I believe they are on the top of the carb. If you can see the top of your carb and the numbers are not there, then it may be a different build and have the numbers somewhere else, maybe on the side.

Ahh...okay, thanks, sid. I can't see them so I may have remove some plastic or something to get a better view and see for sure then. I will take a flashlight and look all around pretty good before I do. Hoping to have some time after my dentist appointment today. I did see yesterday that it still has a Kymco exhaust and all, so I doubt it has had any modifications, just de-restriction. I also noticed those two little hoses that were kind of cut off. I'm guessing to vent the air/gas. I always hated looking at old cars and seeing things unplugged and such, but I guess it is as it should be because it seems to be running fine. If I don't have much time this evening I may have to wait for the weekend to really get into things. I did find me an old milk crate yesterday so maybe I can prop it up a bit on the patio (ground stays to soft, under a lot of shade trees here) to see the underneath side of things. I don't know what I'm expecting to find since it appears practically brand new. I realized last night that the 552 miles is actually probably kilometeres since everything else on the gauges is in km. I guess I'll have to learn that conversion anyway, and write down whatever it is you multiply or divide by, so I'll know when to service it.

Usually down on this side may need to pull the seat bucket to get a look(4 bolts) Good practice for those mods  :D

Thanks, art. The only thing I see on that side is one of those little star or asterisk type symbols with little numbers around the outside and something in the center. Not sure if that is helpful. If that is the number(s) I will need a magnifier for sure because they are small. On the other side (the one away from your arrow) I see a long string of numbers that looks like 114003744 and it may have some other numbers in front of the 1, It's obstructed from my view. Now, down inside the helmet box there is a sticker with some part numbers on them for about 11 parts or so. But the diagram is lousy or I am tired. It makes no sense. lol.

I snapped a pic of it. But I can't read anything in the pic. I may have to try again in the daytime with better light. I'll post the pic anyway. Maybe someone else has the same sticker inside their helmet box and can tell which number is for the carb. The shots are wearing off here and the dentist's torture of excavating and digging to prep for the root canal is setting in here. I'll look again tomorrow.

Okay, here's a better pic. Hope it's large enough to see. If I can identify what parts the numbers 1- 12 correspond with the problem might be easily solved.

..the numbers would be printed on the top of the carburetor, on the gold colored metal cover..

..i don't see the numbers in your pic, but that carb is the same as mine...

Yeah, I expected the numbers to be right there on that little cover, but nope. I took the bucket off last night and couldn't find anything that looked right there, either. So they gave me the good one then?
