2019 XTown problem figured out
« on: May 19, 2019, 05:25:08 PM »
At now 4500 miles, got fuse/no tach etc figured out---Note talked to my dealer, they had about same problem on 2019 XTown, traced problem to fuse box just as I did----either vibration or Neg battery cable rubbing on fuse box cover.  Fuse worked its way out=problem.  I made foam pad where neg cable touched fuse box cover.  So far so good.

Got rid of OEM square wearing Kenda tire---which caused funny cornering/some rear wheel steering.   Replaced with Michelin City Grip in proper size---this tire's OD may be a little less, result a little higher highway RPM.  When front and rear gone, plan to replace with matched set of Michelin Power Pure SC, as they wear round.

With rear steering/funny feeling gone, I replaced Bestem little box with my Givi E-46 (1998 model), bolted solid to rear wing  handles=works fine, more room for dog and for travel my shaving kit fits in to along with water bottles....as hole for dog's head in box top is cut for Jack Russell, Moose is smaller wears safety chain in case he tries to get out.

After 10 new maxi-scooters and over 400,000 miles with them----because of distance from tip of shield to nose, the buffet problem is impossible to solve, I took off Puig Touring screen with Laminar Lip replaced with stock shield with Lip bolted on=little difference with buffeting...maybe less area to push thru the air.

So bike handles fine now, works for my use.  Next problem find rear seat bag to replace my two
20 year old Ortleib rubber bags---they are waterproof/ride niece but not space efficient and have to be dismounted to get inside....need something more easy to use touring, but waterproof!

One thing XTown riders need to think about....muffler to exhaust pipe connection has packing/joint/gasket that should/needs to be replaced when rear wheel is removed.   I ordered two in case.
