« on: June 28, 2019, 03:55:45 AM »
Tried to start dads scooter this morning, it wanted to kick over, then a big stream of white smoke came out of under the seat, we took it off and had a look and
we found this with burn marks around it and exposed wire, picture attached any idea would be great.

Doesn't sound great...

Stig, any idea what that plug is for? My Like 200 memory is getting hazy...  :P

Seems to be a heat shielded wire. Per wiring diagram - green showing on one wire could be the engine temp sensor....and could be a lot of other things. (O2 sensor wire for example)

I'd have to pull my seat bucket to locate this by eyes-on. I will if - need be.

OK, never mind.
I pulled my seat bucket and found, I think, your broken wire.
My clip is white, yours is black, but wire is the same. And it is headed for/through that little square rubber connector cover at the top of my photo.

Pretty sure that is leading into the cylinder head temperature sensor (engine temp sensor) and back into wiring harness to ECU (brain)

I think it pulls off the sensor, then unclips from the white connector (your black)
Replace this little harness, or repair.

Hopefully no damage done to the ECU if it was shorting.
Please let us know what you find.
