Thanks all, and will let you know, omfg. I'm not gonna do anything with it though, until I discover the source of the noise in the front end because it has gotten louder and very annoying for me.  :(

If the noise is getting louder, it would be worth getting it looked at, just to make sure it is safe to ride.

Hey omfg, any chance your CDI has any part numbers on it.  My second People does not have the external rev limiter disconnect and I've cut the crap out it, still no wire.

No, I didn't wordslinger. That thing is on there good. My son couldn't get it, my friend's son down the street couldn't get it and my next-door neighbor's son couldn't get it either. Those bolts don't want to move. All 3 of our son's are fairly strong, so I guess it wasn't just an issue of me being a weakling. lol. Looks like I may have to invest in a tool or something if I want to try to work on it myself, and I'm broke for about 11 more days.  :(

Thank you for asking, though!

I was looking for another cdi, but they can be expensive, when I found a cheap one for a honda dio, I bought it, as a zx50 is basically a dio clone. When I found the plug was different I was faced with an option of put it aside and not use it, or, try to figure it out. I found out that there are two basic types of cdi, a/c fired or d/c fired. I don't know much about them, but it seems if your cdi is a/c fired, you can buy one that is a/c fired and even though the plugs may be different you can work out how to hook it up. In my case it was a/c 5 wires, so it seems I can get any a/c 5 wire cdi and connect it. I only have one scooter so I can't try on any others. I won't be paying top dollar for a genuine cdi. Can you tell me the colours of the wires going to your cdi?

Hey Sid,

The big connector has 4 ports w/ 2 wires; 1 green and 1 black w/yellow tracer.
Small connector has 1 black w/blue tracer and 1 blue w/yellow tracer.
