Sunday Morning
« on: July 21, 2019, 05:02:24 PM »
Out early this morning to get some bits and pieces for the day's work. On the way back, played a game where you try to get as close to a point on the skyline that you can see - in this case, a TV tower.

Took me up to a monument to coal miners past looking over the Staffs countryside. Nice ride out!

Nice way to end the weekend. I have a feeling your side of he pond isn't experiencing a heatwave like my neck of the woods. Was the extra light for night riding or visible safety?

For those interested in the light, it is a 48W LED flood and I think it was about £13/$18. eBay import from China. The lights on this are straight off the generator and the battery is 2A/hr, so effectively useless to see anything with, though OK to be seen by. I don't use it in anger very much - just switched it on for the picture - though I use it as a full-beam on night rides, of which I do fairly few nowadays.

The bike has three frame lugs on the front. Although the bracket isn't pretty, those ally bars are bolted straight to the frame!

It has been a fairly normal summer here, though we've had a few hot days, but for us that's still below 30 degrees celcius.

It's a Honda SH50 - I think known as a "Scoopy" on the other side of the pond - 50cc 2-stroke that does 38mph anywhere and everywhere. Its far more ridable than it sounds!

We're in the countryside surrounding Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, UK. Arguably part of the Midlands, though bordering on the North. Once a hub of industry, particularly with pottery and coal mining, but now quite deprived as industries have left. I live on the outskirts and have done for a couple of years. It's about halfway between Manchester and Birmingham, which have both fared better from urban regeneration and finding new purpose.

I have to give a rousing "Thank you!" for that excellent reply!
