Resrtrictor sleeve on a Kymco Sento and VIN location
« on: July 26, 2019, 10:17:30 PM »
Does anyone know if there is a shouldered restrictor sleeve on a 1958 Kymco Senco 50 variator?
Also, on my Senco, there is an aluminum plate pop riveted to the 3/4 in dia frame loop on the left rear. The loop connects the right and left side of the main frame. The plate has the VIN and date of manufacture.
It is on the bottom of the frame tube, on a plate welded to the frame tube.
There is no Vin stamped on the headstock, under the little inspection cover.
Thanks for any info on the sleeve.

Did Kymco even exist back in 1958?

Well to answer my own question, yes, there is a restrictor sleeve in the variator. Some pundits on u-tube say that the shoulder can be turned down with a file and a drill. Wrong.
The one on mine is hardened steel, and a file slides right off, as does a lathe tool. I'll try my local scooter shop.

Fun and games.  CZ

They had to have existed when Honda contracted them in 1963 to build engine units for the exploding Honda sales. Now what they did and for how long, I do not know....
