Being that I don't have the correct the speedo box on mine it wouldn't surprise me. I noticed that the small end of the axle rod was on the wrong side of the wheel when I compared it to the diagram on stadiumyamaha so I started checking the order of each piece to make sure I put it all back on the correct way. First I noticed that the collar or spacer was facing the wrong direction. Then when I got to the speedo I saw two washers or seals on the diagram that I didn't have. I studied over this for awhile wondering if the gear would work right without them before I realized that the whole thing was for a different model scooter. I suppose the axle rod may function properly in either direction, but if the speedo gear does not line up flush the way it should this could probably cause a bit of a racket if it gets caught up.
But TechGuy hooked me up with a way to test it out so I'll find out for sure tomorrow. We've got some trees down in the yards down here and I can't get it to the road. They're supposed to finish cleaning the mess tomorrow. If they don't I might have to pick up some branches and roll some logs out of the way myself, lol. I'll test it with the cable disconnected first. Then with it connected. If I still get noise I'll try it with the gear out and just use the box as a spacer. At least I would be able to ride until I get it replaced. Thanks, codger78!
