I would mount it on a swivel so you could spin it around the other way to assist you in the event you have to make a panic stop.

Inovative thinking in action...

This just happened last night close to where I live:

Two Struck on Moped in Hit-and-Run
Updated: Monday, 18 Oct 2010, 12:31 PM EDT

Officers say the driver of a vehicle struck two teenagers who were riding a moped along eastbound Veirs Mill Road.

Witnesses say the scooter was in the travel lanes when it was struck from behind.

The driver of the moped has been identified as 19-year-old Mario Claros Hernandez. He remains in serious condition at a local trauma center.

The passenger has been identified as 16-year-old Noel Hernandez Mendoza who remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The vehicle is described as two-door silver Mercedes with dark windows.

Police say it fled the scene and has possible front-end damage.

This is exactly what scares me about riding at night - which is hard to avoid in the winter months with the sun setting so early.  And I'll wager that neither of the riders were wearing helmets either.

At least the driver turned himself in this afternoon.  Lets hope for the best for the riders.

Wear a helmet - don't know for sure if they were wearing them or not, but too many people around here don't wear them.

And load up on lights and reflective tape/clothing to make you more visible.

Man, getting run down from behind as you are scooting down the road following traffic laws and minding your own business.

...hard to defend against that....

Damn...they're so young. Do they have traffic cams on that road by any chance, oswaldters?

That Mercedes owner should not be driving...

No, they don't have cameras there.

But the driver did surrender to the police.

Haven't been updated on the condition of the 2 riders yet.

Yeah, I hope they will be okay. They might have an update for the 11 o'clock news. I'm glad the driver went in. Wow, he must have just freaked out and panicked or something.

My guess is he was drinking.

The accident happened not long after the Redskins game ended last night.
