Kymco 300I Dtown seat lock problem

Hey everyone.

I got a slighty annoying problem with a Kymco 300I downtown 2014.

After around 11.000+ km or just around 6800 miles the cable to the seat lock is beginning to fail.
as you may or may not know, theres a single cable going from the ignition and downwards. somewhere along the way the cable splits up into two. Now the problem is that the left side lock/cable cannot open using the ignition. No amount of tightening or loosening of it helps using the adjustment screws,

Either its to tight and the lock can engage, but then it cannot release or it´s too loose and the lock wont engage.

The right side started to do the same but, i was able to adjust the cable and it now works again.

Anyone with the same problem and a solution to fix that?
I know that a fix could be to replace the cables, but i was hoping for an easier fix than to disassemble the entire front and some of the middle parts of the scooter.

You seem to be doing the right thing by adjusting the cables. It is strange though that the adjustment isn't doing the job. Maybe spraying WD-40 into the cable housing and seat latches might help.

That one into two junction IS the problem. Water gets in there and the three-hole slider thingy gets rusty and sticks. It may just require you to remove, repair/replace or modify. I have not done this so this all is a daydream suggestion! You may be able to tie or tape a wire or cord to one end of the cable assembly and pull it out from the front. The wire or cord would allow you to pull it back into posituon.

The solution is to remove the bracket on the seat pan that latches (as memory serves) the left side.

It's bad  design to have two latches on one cable so eliminate one latch, the one that is not connected to the dash light. What possible reason is there for two latches? Does the designer have a brother who manufactures latches?

I think Kymco has a MET-IN factory. They forgot the MET-OUT part though

I believe it's short for Hel-"Met"-in.
