How did you take the picture of the birds? Were you at a stop?

How did you take the picture of the birds? Were you at a stop?

I carry a camera hanging from a strap around my neck so I can take pics while riding.  I just grab the camera with my left hand, turn it on and point and shoot.  I don't look at the screen, just point and shoot.  Sometimes the pics don't turn out well but it's not like I'm wasting film.

In the case of the pic of the birds, I had already had a couple of close calls with birds that day.  When I saw those birds in the road I slowed down and grabbed my camera.

I have been taking pics like this for years.  Taking pics while cruising along is easy.  Taking them while in the sport riding mode is a bit more challenging.  I took this next pic while chasing a couple of Tmax's on a twisty road.

The hardest pics for me to get right is over the shoulder shots behind me.  Less than half of them come out.  Here's one I took recently while riding on a gravel road.

Over the years I have been able to get a lot of pics because I carried that camera around my neck than I would have if I had to stop and pull out a camera or cell phone.  I know that if I crash having that camera there wouldn't be the best thing but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

Wonderful shots and scenery, thanks for sharing!  Makes my odd bike in front of a field pictures look very pedestrian.  Let's see more!

Luckily there was no bird strike.  I have hit large birds a couple of times in the past and now I slow down when I see large birds around.
