WM29
« on: September 16, 2010, 08:54:40 PM »
According to Amanda from Kymco USA WM29 is the part number for the service manual for the S250.  Before I shell out 35 bucks for one I would like to know it is indeed the right one.  Anyone out there bought this?  If so are the instructions translated well or is it gobbly gook like the 250 SM I have found online?  And does it in fact deal with the workings of my 2009 S250.  Thanks,

Ask her does it show S Tupperware or 250 Tupperware.
If it shows 250 Tupperware, I will send it to you for free.
So far I have not seen genuine service manual for S.

There is a manual available for the S 200
A lot of the stuff is the same, especially body panel removal should be about identical.

I already have the wrong one dated Jan 2006, that says S, but show the non S.  Does anyone have this one - WM29??  Is the question.

I hate the thought processes in the one I have and fear even if I get a proper one for my scooter the thought process will cause me an equal amount of grief - although I only plan on doing easy stuff, I would like to be able to take off panels and do standard maintenance without worrying about breaking tabs off or doing other damage on the way in.  Latest project is to change antifreeze, but getting to the radiator cap is downright baffling, and I am hoping the drain plug is out in the open - I know what a mission impossible it is to get body panels off the main body - somebody should get a spanking.  Next scooter I buy I will make sure that accessing the inner workings is not so freaking hard.

Kinda scoping a Honda 260 Big Ruckus - although I have never actually seen one up close.  Also the 300 city Kymco is looking interesting, but its smaller wheels have me a little worried and it kinda has that mad Chinese scooter look to it that I have been avoiding - like many of the other Kymcos.  Haven't actually seen one of these either - perils of living in Idaho.

The SYM HD 200, which will more than keep up with your P250 (except the top speed is about 75 MPH) is just so much easier to work with. From changing a bulb to doing the anti-freeze, it is a pleasure. I have never had the main body off, even to adjust the valves ( but the bottom ones are a BITCH if you don't have one of those stands that elevate the scoot).

On my S200 you have to pull the  main   body to change a spark plug! And just about take it down to the frame to change a front light bulb. VERY poorly thought out.

The part number for my S200 manual is WM27 if that helps. It's really well done as far as I'm concerned and written in the King's English.

Pages 12 to 16 of Service Guide 2 cover how to take the plastics off the PS. In general, the guides have the P stuff first and the PS specific items last.

This is People 250:

This is People 250S:

"Your manual" is the same like one I have and it shows People 250, not People 250S.

Try to disassemble plastic parts of 250S using that manual and you will understand what I am talking about.
I already did...

AGAIN
use the manual for the S200
they look alike, the disassembly has to be near identical.

For a number of reasons they just "look" identical but they are not.

S200 is air cooled, S250 is water cooled.

Consequence #1: S250 has much bigger front part of the scoot, inside are both ventilator and radiator grille - S200 does not have either.
Consequence #2: much more plastic parts in front to keep everything in place and different way to disassemble everything too.

I have just had a look at the kymco people s 250 manual. In section 2, the exhaust-frame covers removal, from page 12 they show a different scooter, I dont know if this is the one you are after.
ZX50, 47mm cyl. kit, TZR50 CDI. Michelin Pilot Sport tyres,
Next performance mod; pumping the tyres up.

This is exactly what I speak of.  The back of this book cover the removal of the panels of the s modeled People.
