Ignored by a fellow moped rider~!
« on: September 26, 2019, 05:59:53 PM »

I was just sitting there with my coffee, watching things whizz by - when he roared up with his window rattling stereo blasting away, made a lovely boot-draggin' U-turn and parked his moped in front of me.
Nope, not even a tip of his bandanna to me....

Laser Cat in the glass shop wasn't much friendlier...

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

A topic which periodically crops up in the motorcycle press over the pond.  :-\

I still nod or wave to passing riders, but have noticed that it more often than not elicits... nothing!  Never mind, I'll carry on with my acknowledgements  :D

Harley riders tend to be snobbish. Not sure why they have this attitude.

Strangely enough I get far more salutes from cruiser riders than I do from sport bike guys. Of course it is harder to wave when one is draped over one's bike. ::)

I am beginning to think it depends upon location. Here in the deep south most, not all but most wave back as long as two or more fingers are used. Regardless of brand. I know I have missed some riders on the freeway because my attention was directed to a higher priority. With blue tooth phones popular these days may explain why we get ignored from time to time.

Not just phones.  I'm amazed at the number of bikers who admit to using bluetooth headsets for music under their helmets.  I know I've been tempted to use this option on long tours, but have always come down on the side of silence to help concentration well, this and the fact that I always wear earplugs to protect my hearing by reducing the wind noise full face helmets seem to generate.  (I have a number of biking buddies suffering from hearing loss.)

I give the 2 fingers on the left side to all bikers sportbikes, harleys, other scooters, as to me that means stay safe. Keep 2 wheels on the ground.
