And the best part is that here in MD you can't legally go over 30 mph, but can go on roads with a speed limit up to 50mph.

That sounds safe...

Hell ya!

And PD is generally much happier when you aren't a hazard in the roadway - like going 30 in a 45 mph zone.

...as long as you're not doing anything crazy.

In Virginia the legal limit is 35.  So do they have a different CDI in VA?

I wonder how they give you that extra 5 mph?

Virginia never "gives" anything, lol. It's full of mountains and hills, though, maybe they account for that. Seriously, though, I don't know.

Hmm...I don't think our city's moped laws brochure even mentions "speed".

Makes sense...just surprised me. But as far as I know my CDI is the same. The dealer is required to put this awesome (NOT) green sticker on the scoots when they sell them, though.

In lynchburg the moped limit changed last year from 30mph to 35mph . I would not count on all the local leo's knowing that though . Whenever I see one I go 30mph just to be sure .

Well I suppose that just because the law says the scoot can legally do 35 doesn't mean that the scoot comes from the dealer set up to go over 30.

in michigan the law is a moped needs to go 35 or under and if you scoot has gears that you can shift
its not a moped. they can makes us get a cycle in.

Post just died, try again.
Going back to modding your 50cc engine, if you put on a 50mm cylinder kit and a stroker crank, you have a 125cc engine with 50cc engine number, vin and any other reference to it will all show 50cc. Put in a 125 engine and the engine number will be a 125 engine number. If anyone wants to check, you will be gone for licencing and registration. Though in Australia, they must be registered and you must have a licence, a car licence will cover it.
ZX50, 47mm cyl. kit, TZR50 CDI. Michelin Pilot Sport tyres,
Next performance mod; pumping the tyres up.
