Quick decision I need to make, please help
« on: November 18, 2019, 03:24:56 AM »
So I walked out of my apartment today to find my newly paid off 2018 X-town completely on it's side. some evil moron pushed it over, as there was no storms or winds and it was on its center stand.

I wont lie.. I cried a little bit lol

the bike it self has scratches pretty bad on one side. but what really bothered me was the green radiator fluid that was on the ground

I have no Idea if its mixed with my oil or gasoline, so im afraid to start it to find out

my question is if I get this fixed I don't want to be out another $500 for a deductible for it only to happen again

my options are #1 to move ( currently looking to buy, but the market is high )

option #2 sell it quick

option #3 pay $100 and store it in a storage unit until I find a home (My money is tight)

Check coolant level, look at dipstick. If all looks good (not much coolant lost?)
Start it and see what you can see. Temperature level ok, all functions work?
Yes?
Consider riding it as is until you can get safer parking.
Sad business. ...

Stig, I don't think or know if the Bike a coolant dipstick, to my surprise no gasoline or oil leaked out of it.

I'm no expert but it looks like maybe it was on the side stand and not the center stand when it got knocked over?  it could have purely accidental and someone stumbled against it.  I only use my side stand for short duration parking as I think the center stand is more stable for longer term parking.

First read owner's manual----oil has dipstick, coolant sight glass on overflow tank.

With no parking brake--Xtown not so stable on side stand.

I only THINK I'm an expert from time to time...but that is the sidestand extended and the center stand is retracted. However, the center stand most likely retract  if bumped from the rear. That bright green, hard to miss cover would be rolled up under the fender if it rolled forward...

I would also think the center stand would retract if over on the side but I find it hard to understand how the side stand would extend itself in that situation.  So seems to me it was on the side stand when it went over.
