Help ! I have a big problem !
« on: December 15, 2019, 05:37:38 PM »
Yesterday morning I took my four year old granddaughter on her first scooter ride. Since then I find it difficult to get her off the scooter. She insist on going on scooter rides, it doesn't matter what the weather looks like !

What am i suppose to do ?

Enjoy the special time with her.  Ride for an ice cream!  Hopefully you have instilled a love of scooters in her for life!

Lol.  Enjoy every breath taking moment with her.  Eventually you will have to say enough is enough but that will be here and there as you will continue to feel her heart with joy.

Scooterfan,  You have made some nice, helpful contributions to this forum.  However, this post ( and picture) is your best.

IMHO - acknowledge how much safer she would be going for ice-cream with Grandpa if riding in an approved child seat placed in the middle of your cars rear seat.
IMHO toddlers riding on 2 wheels have no business sharing city streets with distracted automobile drivers.
Slow fun ride across a farm field is a different matter.
Your choice, of course - just wanted to offer a (probably unpopular) alternate opinion on children being exposed to what we know, and accept - is a risk for ourselves.

A great "problem", and great replies from the crowd.
Only wish my wife would feel the way your gd does.
Can't get her to even try it.

As far as the risk, if you (or any of us) felt prone to an incident,
we wouldn't be going out to begin with.

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

Thanks. I must admit - these rides actually breaks my heart. Our lives have changed and if things works according to plan we will leave the area permanently. These moments are very precious and the joy will be remembered for ever.  Experiencing the excitement and joy gets engraved in my mind and soul for ever.
The rides are restricted to a cul-de-sac at very slow speed, but speed is not needed - moments are precious and far more important.

@Stig
You are probably right - I actually made a decision to donate the scooter to my little granddaughters before we leave the area. The idea was that my son could take the little ones for a ride by times and I thought maybe this would bring some precious memories back to my grandchildren.
Since your comments I am not sure whether my son will stick to slow rides in the cul-the-sac, therefore I will probably just sell the scooter, and donate the money towards ice cream when I’m gone.
