Kymco parts availability in the UK?

I want to buy an Xciting 400 but my mechanic warned me that some Kymco parts are hard to get in the UK. "They are good scooters and cheaper than others, but what's the point when you can't do a repair because you can't get the parts?" he said..

Can anyone comment on the subject? What is the best way to buy parts for a Kymco myself if the mechanic cannot find them? I know eBay is a good source of parts but searching for "xciting 400 panel" (hypothetical scenario where I fall off the scooter and need to replace some of the plastic panels) did not yield many results. I don't mind buying from abroad as long as the prices are reasonable and it doesn't take ages for the parts to arrive.

For what it is worth, we have had Kymco models since 2008 and have not needed any Kymco-specific parts except one CVT belt and that can be sorced elsewhere these days....I think. As long as you don't crash....

What if I scratch/crack a panel and need to get a replacement?

You have spoken with an authorized U.K. Kymco dealer, and they tell you parts are not available??
This seems strange - but if it is actually the situation - and not just one mechanics opinion - you'd best not buy Kymco. Honda maybe?

There is also a guy on ebay that can get whatever you want from Kymco, seller androidextend.

I have a 100cc Kymco Kiwi, and the parts have to be ordered from France.  Truly, it's a bit of a pain.  American Kymco dealers don't even show this model in their parts catalogs. They don't even know what I'm talking about!  So you've got the right idea.  Find out where the closest parts supplier is located, and check the shipping costs.  BTW, plastic body parts can be repaired with "Sure Seal Plastic Surgery", and the paint can be matched by larger auto parts suppliers that do custom paint matching. A tall spray-bomb of matching paint costs about $25.00.

Many American scooter owners have no nearby dealer - which could mean they've neglected to research this, or that they're OK with DIYing their scooter servicing.
This is the price many of us are willing to pay
when owning a scooter in the vast majority of N. American locales. (it makes better sense to own a Big 4 motorcycle)
Also....it is a good idea to explore parts availability, scooter reviews & servicing costs before purchasing.
Skipping these steps can lead to buyer's remorse.

Admittedly,  this is not usually a consideration  when buying other road vehicles in this country....

I’m in the UK and my dealer has no issue getting necessary parts direct from Kymco UK though admittedly no body panels needed yet - touch wood!

As already mentioned a scratched / cracked panel would be cheaper via the plastic weld respray route?

I also struggled getting bits for my Like 200, but just ordered them in from Italy instead which was easy enough.

It may be worth getting the number of Neil's dealer!

That is interesting....Italy.
I think our Austrian friend (Vespbretta) had to get his 163cc LIKE200i from Italy - as only the smaller versions were available in his country.
I think S.America has only the smaller versions as well.

Strange isn't it.  My previous scooter (Honda PCX125) only available in 125 size Euro-wide and yet it sold in the States as a 150cc!  Much more sensible capacity IMHO.
