Gas prices to upset our UK members 😊
« on: January 16, 2020, 12:43:30 AM »
Filled up my Chevy Silver-Rodeo truck today.

27 American gallons of 87 octane gasoline (laced with 10% Mt. Dew, or whatever) for $41.38.

Not certain about the quality of this grocery owned filling station fuel.....but my Chevy owner's manual says it will run just fine on fermented squirrels if necessary.

2nd question: am I the only guy in Ohio who owns a p-up with an 8' bed?!
Every truck that I see has those silly little short beds. How embarrassing when the Mrs. makes them go to Home Depot or Lowe's for curtain rods and plants!

Well in VT I see a few 8ft beds.  I have a 3/4T diesel, extended cab with 8ft bed so makes parking interesting sometimes.

For 30 yrs I drove the same red extended cab Chevy with an 8' bed for the State.
Carried my crew in warm comfy...but, in hot summers,  State did not provide A/C and Chevy did not provide enough opening windows for these good, but smelly, workers!
Garages could not do an alignment due to its length.
Good truck...

Funny story:
One time local newspaper came out to report on the 3 concession stands we were  building at a new softball complex.
To a man - the crew refused to face the photographer. After newspaper left I said, " just curious - but how many of you guys are behind on your alimony?"

8ft beds are pretty much special order these days, I'd like to find a used one at a reasonable price, I can fit my UXV450i in an 8ft bed and wouldn't need a trailer

Our gas isn't quite that cheap here in NH, I filled up my Silverado a few days ago, 22g for just under $55, I filled my K-Pipe for $2.25

No thanks... Full sized bed  - full sized trucks are a PITA to drive and park in cities and after getting my HOTROD 2019 Ford  Ranger with a (Mustang) 2.3 liter turbo go cart motor I am not looking back after giving up a full sized truck my whole adult life.  This little mid sized beast tows more than my 05 Chevy V8, gets better mileage and has all the bells and whistles and serious get up and go + handling  to boot.  I drove all the mid sized new trucks and at this age this will be probably my last vehicle if it lasts as long as my problem free Chevy 1/2 ton did.  fingers crossed...  :^)

High petrol prices are great.

Less cars on the road means more a space for bikes.

Also, it means more folk get off their fat arses and move.

Also, also......its A bit nicer for the planet eh?

The higher the better!

Yes, thanks for that Stig. Nobody likes a smug smarta**! Just to add to your smugness, the last fill up on my wife’s Range Rover Sport at 78ltrs came to £100.54 or about US$130.  Still, I can fill my XT300i for under a tenner!

I think when the US inevitably catches up to our prices, there'll be piles and piles of scrap vehicles that they just can't afford to run anymore.

For now, I'm started tootling around on my ancient Honda Cub 70 again - clocking up a respectable 140mpg.

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma (2016)
Honda C70C (red, 1983)

Hi Viper,
Yes I think you're spot on there.  Higher fossil fuel prices are inevitable in the medium to longer term and that can only be good news for us frugal scooter fans!  Impressed by your 140 mpg, I get about half that on my XT300i, but it still does 3x the mpg of the missus' RRS lol

I will respectfully disagree, I beleive fuel prices will drop as more electric vehicles are sold. Supply and demand
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.
