My carbon footprint....
« on: January 23, 2020, 10:51:55 PM »
Letter from my gas company today said I need to grow 27 trees to "balance my CO2 impact."
Come spring, I'll be digging 13 holes - as I already have 14 trees around my house.
(my daughter says if I cut back on my burrito intake I can probably get by with 25 trees)
I'll tell you right now - I ain't raking leaves from 27 trees. They can just stay there. (in a billion years they'll return to oil again)

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Nice Stig.

Our local power company sends out letters (creating a carbon footprint for those of course) telling me how awful it is that I'm only using less power than about 70% of those around me and how I need to improve on that.  Can't say as I'm a fan of the new "PC" in the power companies these days...

Would it be any different if you planted potatoes instead of trees? Scooter drivers should have a little leeway in this.  At least you could eat the spuds over the following winter!?

I get a statement every month (separate from the bill) shaming me for my power usage relative to my neighbors.
Thing is, most (about 75%) are south for the winter and their houses are shut down for a few months.  So I am being compared to almost zero use.

I gave up my gas guzzling car a year ago.  That'll do for my carbon offsetting for now I think!
