The right side seat latch has the dash light and under seat light switch so if remove a seat latch bracket (advised) take off the left side.
THIS. Two latches virtually guarantees that... sooner or later.. you will be locked out of your seat. In my DT, the cable was busted so the PO took a coat hanger and hooked the left side lock and brought it down the left hand side. It works great.
I have done some experimenting on those latches. It only takes the
slightest pull to release the lock... and I mean slight! What that means is that you can do BOTH... run a cable to the release AND a stiff emergency release down the left side and tie off in front of the kickstand. I have a new cable and the next time I have the front fairing off I am going to install it to the left side lock (ignore the right), and leave the current wired release in case the cable ever fails.
