Getting a used 2013 DT300i

Getting a scooter after not having one for the past 4-5 years.  My first scooter was a Kymco Like 200i, and I've been getting the urge to ride again.  Found this on my local CL with 3200 miles on it.  Guy wanted $2300, went there and negotiated him down to $2100.  It's a 2013 with 3,200 miles on it.  He got it in October but he has long legs and its too cramped for him.   Only thing wrong with it is it probably needs a new battery soon, he's got it on a trickle charger for some reason.  Also, the under seat storage compartment doesn't lock, he disabled the lock because he couldn't get the unlocked warning light to go off on the dash. 

Any tips or things I should look out for?  The first owner didn't ride it a lot but he put I think he said like 500 miles on it since he got it in October.  But being fuel injected I imagine the sitting isn't a huge deal.  It's got only 500 miles on the current tires and oil.

Couldn't get to the bank for the cash yesterday so I have to wait to get it Tuesday when our schedules align. 

Being in Florida this is a good deal from what I've seen because warm weather = year round riding = higher resell prices.

Also can I get a link with a good recommendation for a battery? Gonna get one as soon as I get the bike.  Any other maintenance I should look out for at this mileage?

3200 miles is not even "broken in" yet! Battery: Yuasa or Chrome. Lube: Drain and refill rear gearbox. Inspect: Make sure CVT does not have unwanted residents.
The seat latch and tub light up to you. Personally, I added an LED light near the top of the tub because the light at the bottom was useless. Also aligned the seat so it would latch without binding.
Have you ridden this thing yet? Does it even run?

Took it on a test ride.  Started on the 2nd push but I think that's because I just didn't give it enough juice the first one.  Only took it up to 40 because I went on back streets but it was a blast to ride.  Sounded good to me didn't sputter or anything.

Also it has a strapped on seat pad which gives an extra inch or so of height and cushion which was the current riders solution to the cramped issue but he's taller than me by one inch and is more of a legs guy, I have a shorter femur than most for my height so I didn't mind the leg space. 

What about something like this for the battery?

Battery - I'm with Karl here, something like Yuasa - I swear by them.  As for fuel, unleaded is fine, maybe go for a premium unleaded (equivalent to 91 octane premium in the United States) every third tank or so?

Thanks.  Might take it for a quick ride before I go to the DMV the next morning.  I'm concerned a bit about him having it on the trickle charger if its an issue with maybe the battery not being charged like I'd have to swap out the regulator.  Read that was an issue someone had with their DT.  I'm hoping he's doing it for maintenance of the battery.

Good deal on the DT.  First, look at your tires.  If they are from 2012/2013, then you might consider a change.   Maybe the same thing for the CVT belt.. it is probably about 6 years old now.  do all the typical stuff: oil change, gear oil change. Check the plug and airbox... 3k miles is not a lot.   

I think the seat cable thing is a typical failure on this bike.   On my bike, the cable broke. So  the second  owner took the right side rung off, and left the left side rung but attached a cable to it which he snaked out under the plastic on the left hand side.  I pull that cable to pop the seat.  I actually purchased a new cable set, but I am not sure I even want to fool with it.

I have a seat pad thread somewhere in here...   I added about 4" of legroom with it, and have ridden it for 750 miles now.

No videos.  When I pull my tub out in a couple of weeks to add a line to the battery, I'll take a pic of whatever they did.  Basically, though, it is wire hanger that has been hooked into that left side release to manually release it.  Right side disabled by taking the rung off of the seat.

I am too cheap to buy a Yuasa but it is about the best available. The Chrome brand is about 40 bucks US, FREE shipping and so far has worked well for me for two years.

Looks like the chrome come pre sealed so I don't need to add the acid. Just ordered one.

Got home with my bike managed to time the purchase for tonight with some fancy money work.

Awesome bike.  I gotta touch up on my tight low speed turns (under 5mph) going from my Like to this but other than that its amazing.

I am overly prejudiced about this model! My previous was a Yager 200i and I thought that was great but the 300i does EVERYTHING easier, smoother and quieter.

Nothing wrong with that sort of prejudice Karl!  If you enjoy a product, stick with it.

Compared to my like 200i this thing has some wicked acceleration. Didn't go wide open at all but gave it a little gas on the home stretch and it was definitely enough to impress me and my ride there who was following me home.
