Need Solution to AK 550 Mud Problem

Hey everyone...

I had an Xciting S 400 for 94 km and traded it for a AK 550.

The AK 550 is great... except that there is no inner fender mud guard.

The S 400 has an inner fender that keeps the mud from splashing everywhere...

But imagine my surprise the first time I found all this mud EVERYWHERE!!

Have any of you heard of a solution?

I ordered a mud guard from Aliexpress… but I don't know if they work.

I looked up "mudguard AK550 aliexpress" and saw what is the style for motorcycles these days. Never made any sense to me, maybe someone could explain it! The DT300i and I guess your 400 had a "huggy fender" that kinda covers the top, forward quarter of the tire to keep the crud and mud off the engine. I have a bigger than standard rear tire and need a different "inner fender" for the same reason you stated.

Saw a picture where a guy made a bobber fender for his Harley out of a tire! That might be what we have to do!

My Burgman 400 threw crud on the back of the engine as well....and had to add a fender extender to the front to keep crud out of the radiator.
Design by committee?

I assume we are thinking about front fender----all my 11 maxi scooters have needed front mud flap----they are getting harder to find/buy---My XTown 300i has one I took off my SilverWing 600, bolted on and it works fine....no crap/mud/dirt on lower front of scooter.....they probably should be standard in all markets.  Mine does not appear to block engine cooling-----think 80-100 years ago front mud flap was standard on many bikes, as well as long fenders....guess many people, designers included do not ride in the rain/bad weather these days.

Think he is referring to the rear but you bring a great point about the front! Sorta mud flap idea, right?

Ok... I found it...

The picture shows two scooters:

The one on the left is the Xciting S 400 with the inner fender just behind the exhaust.

The one on the right is the AK 550.

These are two closer views under the fender.

The problem is that there is nothing to fasten any kind of fender under there.

I can see they have eliminated the wheel-hugging mudguard for the looks. The only way to attach a mudguard is by screwing it to the swingarm or under the seat bucket.
