New City Grip Done&Done
« on: February 18, 2020, 01:00:30 PM »
Replacing an 8 yr old tire, which has been on my scooter for 7 yrs.....and still has plenty of tread.

Three things to note, so far:
1) That dealer installed 19mm axel nut was a bear to remove! Glad I had an impact gun! White residue on the axel is old Loctite.
I'll wire-brush it off and use blue Loctite again.
2) 8 year old brake pads look great
3) both bearings feel smooth, and rubber dust seals look good - may reserve the bearings & only replace the dust seals & valve stem this tire change.

Buttered things up & reinstallation went well, for a Senior.

New tire born -  Feb 2019.

I have as much fun fixing as riding,  1 service for first 600 Km.,. then I do every thing,  on all my scooters,.

It does feel good when you've improved the scooter in some manner - and not made things worse 😊
One thing I  attended to was a split seam on the front fender. Road jars had opened the seam's clips over the years. Working inside the fender, with wheel removed, I was able to put things right.
Reminded myself to inflate the front tire to only the specified PSI - and no more - to spare the front plastics any unnecessary jarring.
I'm not a follower of playing with tire pressures to discover some mythical sport grip😊 on my  s c o o t e r.
