No magnet, just the mesh net to filter and catch particles (in theory).
I change the gear oil and air filter every 5-6000km, brake fluid every 2 years.
It's a simple machine, no need to overthink it.

No magnet but it will make sense to compare the two plugs carefully, and install the magnetic plug at the Kymco if possible.
The magnetic plug should fit on the Kymco.

According to your comments elsewhere at the forum your Sym scooter is a 2008 model with 12 000 miles on the clock.  Regarding the magnetic oil drain plug - could you please share the following information:

1. What is the magnetic field like after 12 years ? (Powerful, or weak ?)
2. Have you noticed any loss of magnetic power since you bought the scooter ?
3. Do you know whether the magnetic plug fits on your Kymco ?

Thanks, information will be appreciated.

the magnetic plug thing is not great so I have left it on the sym as i am getting it ready for selling, the exhausts on syms are not great i am on the second 1 but i suppose 12 years 2 exhausts is not to bad,i am selling it cheap it will make a good workhorse for someone. syms are great engines are really good,i would say they seem a bit more robust than the kymco and the storage on the sym fiddle is a lot better than the kymco, brakes are better on the kymco as the rear is a drum on my sym only the front is a disc. Parts in the UK are easy to get for both, the sym is really well supported in the UK we have a main dealer 5 miles away. The bigger wheels on the kymco make a massive differnce, in my opinion, it evens out the road a lot better but i would recommend Sym scooters as they are well built and not like the cheaper Chinese imports we get in the UK like lexmoto but even these scooters seem to be better quality as time goes on.I have also just got a new battery for the kymco as the one on it was the original and the other day i had to kick start the kymco after it had been sat for 2 days so to be on the safe side I got a new one was only £37 UK so a cheap fix

Thanks, I assume by saying “the magnetic thing is not great” you mean the magnetic power is very weak ?
