Scooter Cannonball 2020 DT 200 Prep
« on: March 01, 2020, 03:42:59 PM »
As part of the prep before the SCBR in July, the week before I am planning on doing the following prep on my 2012 DT200.

1.  oil and filter change
2.  coolant change
3.  new air filter
4.  hub oil change
5.  brake fluid change
6.  install new belt
7.  install new rollers and sliders
8.  new tires - plan on Power Pure as they have gotten good reviews for a cannonball event.  City Grips would have been first choice but not available in this size.

Is there anything that I am missing that should be done in prep for this type of event? (besides butt toughening in the saddle)  The scooter presently has 6886 miles on it but once weather starts improving, I plan on riding it as much as possible but will still have to give some time to my other scooters.  ;D

I will have other postings on a question on roller weights for this type of riding and another post on list of spare parts I plan on bringing so reserve comments on those items for the other postings.

Thanks in advance!

Important at start----fresh oil and fresh tires and fresh belt----done before you start ride....at the start. And then just ride and you should have no trouble

Power Pure SC worked fine for me, return from AK, over 11,000 miles on rear Burgman 400....and they!!! wear round!

I looked at route for scooter cannonball---4250 miles----really nothing special if you have experience with long distance riding-----remember, most experiences are from Vespa riders.  I have owned 4 Vespas---they are just not as reliable as Asian scooters...period.

I would carry extra gallon of gas---walking sucks

If you are east coast I would ride bike to start.  Best way to see if your set up and gear works, and maybe time to make corrections.   Why start bike rally as trailer biker?

well my wife is coming with me to the start and then she has the car to come home the next day after seeing the start.  I will go for a shakedown ride after all the prep work.

As I think your bike is 2012----I would also start with fresh/new OEM battery
