Hi,

If it's in the EU and has fuel injection, you are going to struggle a bit.

On 4 stroke 50s, the only thing worth changing is the CDI but only if a manufacturer-supplied unrestricted one is actually availalbe.

There's a long thread on here about people struggling to de-restrict new Kymco 50cc. It's a lot of hassle. Don't be fooled by those saying "big bore kit, racing exhaust, air filter" etc - it's just not that easy on a new fuel injected 50cc.

I don't know anything about Kymco CDIs I'm afraid. Might be worth calling your dealer up and asking if they can get you an unrestricted one - the answer may well be "no" though!

Your scoot may have come equipped with a restricted variator drive boss. In the US many 50cc scoots are delivered this way to keep the top speed below 30 mph. This is to qualify for "moped" license status. You can change from the ridged boss to a smooth boss and gain up to 10 mph because the drive belt can go to a higher "gear" position on the drive pulley. Here is a pic of the two types, the restricted is on the right.

I have a 2015 4T

Here is what I did to get 70-75km/h (roughly 40mph) depending on the wind

Installed the smooth boss and upgrade the variator to a Polini Hi-Speed (6.9 gram rollers)
Installed 1000rpm springs (Torque and Clutch)
Installed Big Bore Kit (72cc)
Up jetted the carborator to 92 (comes with 80 installed)
removed the restriction ring in the pipe between the carb and motor
Installed Silent Pro exhaust (looking to upgrade more for looks)
cut the purple/red wire on the CDI (look this up on youtube even it is there.) to take away the rev limiter
Installed new gears (15/52 to 14/53 I think. It was one tooth difference)  Didn't get the extra top end above 70km/h till after I did this.

Hope this helps and shows you what kind of work goes into it.  The only thing I didn't install was the BBK  I let a mechanic do that.
2015 Super 8 50R
72cc BBK
Polini Hi-Speed with stock boss and 6.5gr rollers
Naruko 1000RPM White Spring
Technigas Silent Pro Exhaust
3 x 1" Air Filter additions to Air Box

Problem is is that my moped has a smooth boss, pretty sure its main restriction method is the CDI, ive tried to find the CDI around the battery in the footwell etc and havent been able to find it, anyone know the proper place to look for A KYMCO super 8 4T 50cc 2019

If you can find a derestricted CDI you shouldn't need to cut any wires.
