Strange Exhaust - Zx 50 Super Fever 2006 euro
« on: April 04, 2020, 07:54:08 PM »
Hello all. I have ZX 50 from 2006 with cdi derestricted and unrestricted boss but the top speed is 60km/h(37miles/h). I saw the the exhaust is very strange(photo) it has a anti polution system. What do you think? Any advice for getting a higher top speed?

Disclaimer: If your Scooter is a 2-stroke the exhaust is complex, none of this may apply, and I have NO experience with them.

The stock exhaust allows for the volume of exhaust at peak power RPM to exit the engine at the velocity designed for optimal engine operation. However, if the volume of air/fuel entering the engine is increased by lets say a high flow air filter, then the increased volume requires a higher volume output. In other words, If you have not changed the intake then the exhaust will not give you more power which equals speed.

If you change the intake volume the carburetor must be re-jetted or the engine will run lean and may seize.

Does the bike have a Tachometer to read RPM? A Tachometer can be added for as little as $11 and is VERY helpful in tuning the bike for performance.

Thank you. Yes is 2stroke. Today I have unpluged the hose that's connected to the exhaust and goes to anti pollution system and there is now difference. Still max speed 60km/h. Don't know what to do. I will install a tachometer.

Great. If you find a mod that increases performance please let us know. I would like to learn about 2 strokes.

Good luck.

It can’t hurt to install a better flowing intake on.

I have an after market intake filter on mine mostly because my original filter medium was dust. Only mods I’ve done to mine was to de-restrict it. I’ll take dependability over speed every time!

I skipped over a lot of this post...are you asking if you should replace stock air filter with a higher flowing one or which after marker air cleaner to choose?

Ok, so I’ve read the entire post and looked at the pics. I’m not sure what’s going on there and with the pics it’s still hard to see what’s going where. What I do know is a regular muffler with one pipe will work on that same as any other zx50. I seen one pipe going to the muffler, another one pinched off and I’m not sure where the other one is going. Stock the way it sits should do around 40mph.

If you want to add any more information ill do my best to help. You’re trying to go faster correct?
