I originally posted a question about finding an led flasher relay with 3 wires to convert the scoot to led turn signals. I found them online an ordered a week or 2 ago. So my led flasher relays arrived today! (I ordered 1 from aliexpress and 1 from amazon, both were about $10 each..with the current shipping issues I wasn't sure when I was going to get either one..and I can be a little impatient). I've also attached a few pictures.

So I connected the new led relay to the existing wiring by cutting off the existing connector, and connecting the 3 wires with crimp on / heat shrink connectors. On the scoot the green wire is ground, black is power from battery and white is power to blinkers (winkers!). I matched it up with the wiring listed on the relay. Worked fine. The relay on the People S200 is behind the front cover below the headlight. 8 little screws and 1 big one hold the cover on.

The front led bulbs installed with no problem. Just remove the amber cover with 1 screw, twist and pop out the old and push, twist and pop in the new.

The rear bulbs were a problem. The led bulbs have a wider ring where the metal socket meets the led part. It was too wide to fit into the the hole in the lens. There was no way I was going to be stopped by this problem. I thought if I could use a dremmel and rout out the hole, making it large enough for the bulb to fit in, I could make it work.

My fear about doing this was that the plastic debris or shavings would fill up the taillight lens and I wouldn't be able to get them out. I was right. After routing out 1 hole the lens filled with little black shavings, almost static clinging to the inside of the lens. Looked like crap.

I grabbed my small shop vac, which had a reducer attachment that was just the size of the bulb hole. I vacuumed a lot out but there was still a bunch in there. Then I switched the vac to 'blow' mode and blew into one side of housing while tapping hard on it. this got the bulk of the debris out. I switched back and forth between vacuuming and blowing until it was clear.

Then when I routed the other hole I first stuck the vac on blow mode and blew into the hole I'd just routed, forcing the air out of the hole I was going to rout. This worked great, blowing all the shaving back out rather than letting them get into the lens.

I put the bulbs into the sockets and pushed them into the hole in the lens and secured with the 2 little screws on each side. They also have a rubber gasket to make a tight seal. I attached the taillight wiring to make sure they worked before I put the scoot all back together. As I've posted before, you have to take the seat bucket, plastics and rear fender off to get to the taillight on this scoot.

Got it all put back together and it works great. The led bulbs are probably 2 or 3x as bright as the old bulbs. Huge difference! Not sure how well it shows up in pictures but I'll let you decide. I replaced the taillight with an led bulb last year. That was a huge improvement, too. Got the bulbs from super bright leds .com. Pretty inexpensive. I did this same thing to my motorcycle last year and I would highly recommend going to led turn signal and tail/stop light bulbs.

The front and rear bulbs have a slightly different base. The fronts are BA15S, with the 2 pins at 180 degrees from each other. The rear bulbs are BAU15S, with the pins at 120 degrees from each other.

Now if it will just warm up and stop raining...and snow may be coming tomorrow or Monday..ugh. Happy Easter to all.

Edit: the first pic is of the rear bulb. The front bulb was clear with a much bigger bulb part, it looked very similar to the taillight bulb.

Edit: The Chinese led flasher relays (both of mine) list the 3 wires as the following - E (for earth, or ground), B+ (for battery, or the hot or powered wire) and L (for the neutral, I think they mean L for 'lights'). Both relays had completely different colors for each function so you can't ever go by wire color alone on these.

It wouldn't be electrical work if you weren't ripping or chopping something out:) Do the bulbs have built in resistors?

thanks, TBR125. I don't believe the bulbs have built in resistors, that's why I needed the led flasher relay.
