Best Scooter for a Tall guy ?
« on: April 30, 2020, 11:16:40 AM »
So I have a 2016 BV350 and love it and my 2006 Scarabeo 500 is my cruiser bike I would like a smaller cc bike with a larger frame . I sat on the Piaggio 150 but didn't like it the Vespa 150lx seemed ok after this virus is gone I plan to visit a dealership and check out some Kymco machines . Any suggestions are appreciated Tom

Welcome to the Forum Tom.  You'll doubtless get a shed-load of first hand suggestions from our taller members, but here's my two penn'orth.  How small is "smaller cc"?  If it'll stretch to 300cc, then you could do worse than Kymco's X-Town 300i.  As a 6' rider I find it supremely comfortable for 2-3 hours at a time before stopping for a coffee break.  If you want to press on the tank will take you at least 175 miles comfortably.
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

Asian scooters are built for Asians....and the odd Spaniard, it seems - while French and Italian scooters are built for the rest > as long as you're about 5'10".

Adventure bikes are for tall guys.
I'm 6'3" and have adjusted to 4 scooters, made in 4 different Asian countries--- and only the Burgman would adjust to me.

Yep, your best bet is to sit a bunch of different scooters - bearing in mind that it IS possible to rebuild a seat - if that is the only deal breaker on an otherwise great scooter!

Thanks for the replies everyone and I have had a few smaller size scooters as well with the 2010 Honda SH150 fitting me the best . I am looking at smaller cc as my needs for a bigger cc bike is filled and I would use a smaller bike when the wife and I go on vacation . So I will try some of there bikes as soon as this virus passes I found a dealer 40 miles away that has a bunch of different models .

Do bear in mind that the performance of a small cc scooter will suffer two-up.  I had a Honda PCX125 here (UK) and whilst the equivalent in the USA is 150cc, I bet it'd still struggle uphill with 2 adults on board.  Might be better to shop in the 200cc market?  I'm up at 300cc these days and it copes admirably with a passenger along with me.

2 up would be handled mostly on my bigger machines with the smaller unit doing it while at the motorcycle  trials events we go to . So small is important since we would end up on dirt roads a bit also .

In our late teens, my wife & I rode 2-up on one of these all over not-flat Massachusetts in the 60's.
Might have been the "Flower-Power" that was moving us along, effortlessly. (She stuck flowers all over it)
Yeah, we didn't do the Mass. 'Pike....but still had a blast on it.
Been a Honda fan ever since....

Yep. Had inherited a red Honda in SoCal when a buddy went back to finish his studies at Chino prison. It ran great no matter what I did to it.
Knew nothing about bikes at the time. As teenagers, wife and I hadn't enough $ at the time to buy a Beetle - so bought the next best thing😊
Of course, we didn't know it was "little"....but knew it was more fun than hitch-hiking again. We did wear helmets.

The fun we had as youngsters eh Tom? My first bike was a BSA Bantam, probably less poke than your 90!
