This is starting to sound like a dangerous situation to me.  Loose bolts, clunking starts just from leaning in a turn.  Did you do that steering head check?

When you say "rider's right side shock", do you mean the REAR shock?  Or the front fork?

Sorry, Hoolander, I meant the mount bolts at the front forks - on the left side as I was facing it from the front of the bike.

And yeah, doesn't seem to me like the dealer should have put on the showroom floor quite yet. Yes I checked it like you said, I neither saw nor heard anything that caught my attention, but having never examined these things before I may not notice something out of the ordinary as someone else may.

Also should say, Hoolander, that the steering stem nut, at the top, seems tight to me. It's a little difficult to get at. Might be a little bit easier if I could figure out to remove the handlebar covers, not sure, though. I found an adapter for my large ratchet and put a socket on it and could not turn it like I could the mount bolts. But I also realize that someone with a bit more strength than me might be able to tighten it a bit.

Ok, well those loose bolts are definately not good!  Let's assume some work has been done all around the front end of this scooter.  If those bolts were left loose, maybe some others too, so check as many as  you can find!  How about the front axle nut?!?!  Axle pinch bolts?!?!  Don't know if your model has those.

Look, if you can, at the top of the forks and make sure both are even in the triple tree.  Both forks should be exactly the same level -- that is should stop or extend exactly the same amount at the top of the triple tree. 

Well, if it's not the steering head, then you're concentrating in the right places as far as the brake caliper, wheel, etc.  Still sounds dangerous.  If you don't figure it out soon, I'd take it to a REPUTABLE mechanic.

I appreciate it, Hoolander. That's a big help! Will tighten everything I can find and give it another run whenever this rain lets up.

The front axle nut is very tight! If it comes down to needing to take it off I will probably need some help with loosening it up, so I may as well give everything else higher up a look over first. Didn't see any axle pinch bolts, but will tighten them if I come across any when I go back to it. I'll check out that triple tree area as best I can. Thanks!

Just to give a quick update, I tightened everything as best I could and ruined two sockets in the process. Lol.

My neighbor's son stopped by yesterday and took a look at the scoot for me. He said the caliper is way too tight, but the pads and disc look fine. He said I might need some grease, so I'll probably just get some to have on hand as soon as I'm sure it's okay to ride a bit of a distance. He took it apart and cleaned it a bit more and asked if I had a c-clamp for the piston. Couldn't find one so I borrowed some larger pliers from another neighbor and they seemed to work. He went to work adjusting things a bit to give a little more play. He didn't have much time but said he will stop back. Hopefully soon. I took it out in the afternoon for a run to the store that is farther away. There and back is close to 7 miles. It didn't make noise until I got about 2 blocks from home and then it was very faint. If I hadn't been aware of the noise already I might have missed it. Hoping it may just need another small adjustment or something. Still got those dreaded wheel and steering bearings in the back of my mind. I checked and there is no more grease anywhere around the steering, though. No leaks I can see. I'm really hoping that the dealer or someone just left a mess after adjusting the shocks or something. I'm usually not so lucky with repairs when it comes to cars and such, so I always expect the worst.

Well that sounds like great news! 

At least you're up and running so perhaps with a little more work you'll be fine.
