« on: June 03, 2020, 09:16:50 PM »
Hello....desperately need some help. I Bought a new exhaust for my kymco super 9. Received it but only realised afterwards mine has 2 pipes...one linked to a box and a tube. The company said I dont need it and wont accept a return.  But not sure if I can run it without   it on? First post.. please be kind. ;D

A couple of years the exhausts were made with some funky tube coming out the side of the exhaust down tube, some sort of way of emissions control on the two strokes.    Often the tubes were cut off and welded up.
Not really necessary, but may need a bit of an upjet with a standard pipe.

What exhaust did you end up buying?

Yeah it wont let me attach a picture on here. I opened the box up and there's a piece of metal in there then the flexible tube goes up under the seat and cant see any more. I just got a stock exhaust in uk. But dont know if the bike will run ok without the pipe fixed or it will cause long term damage? It's just for some of the exhaust fumes? Many thanks.

Don't know about yours but my People had a small vacuum driven air pump to inject air into the exhaust for complete burning emissions system.
In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

If you are not in California then I don't think removing it will cause harm. Just be aware depending on the system you may need to plug some holes when you remove the hoses/pipes. You obviously can't have an open port in the head as that equates to an exhaust leak and your valves could be at risk.
