Sold one bought one
« on: June 05, 2020, 08:17:35 PM »
I sold my 2007 People 150 with 5500 miles on it and bought a 2009 Xicting 250RI  with 1600 miles on it.  Now have to make a road trip to Texas to pick it up and see some friends.   Dealer made me a offer I couldn't refuse.

In parts 200S and Grand Vista and my motorcycles 2 CS BMW'S and one GS BMW.

Sold-32 Kymco scooters of various sizes this summer.

You, sir are a flat-land dog who stole that not broken in machine! Take pictures of your trip and the bike!

That's it, thanks crossbolt for posting.  The seat cover has a couple of defects. There is a company in Greece that custom make seat covers for it that look very high quality.  The seat cover has a red accent that will match the touch of red on the bike or you can get all black.

It seems like Greece has a lot of neat things made for Kymco's but the shipping,  is outrageous compared to getting stuff from Taiwan.

My next project will be to build a new shed/shop for the scooter collection . Will start digging the foundation and pour concrete  but might not get started on the building until it cools down a bit. The heat index is around 100F during the afternoon.

my first thought when I read this was "where in the heck do you find these scooters??"...as older Kymco's are never seen around here. Then I read you found it in Texas! Do you search cycletrader? Or just do internet searches for Kymco scooters for sale?

Looks like a nice scooter. Will this replace the need for finding a People S250?

I use Cycle Trader and Craigslist. Still have my project 250S and will probably work on next winter.  If I run into a good buy I might purchase and flip. I usuall purchase when people want to get rid of them in the winter and then sell when everyone wants one in spring.

The ones I look for is when people purchase new then ride them one season and they get parked in the garage.  Several years later they won't start because of dead battery and stale fuel. This spring I found two on Craigslist that had under a thousand miles on them but I was to late they were sold.

I like the styling of the People S and if one happens to pop up you never know, LOL. I also like the 250 water cooled motor.

Just be prepared some times a good deal isn't.  Some times your the dog others your the fire hydrant.

I keep seeing all these bikes that predate the Downtown 300i that have so many similarities. Like liquid cooled, EFI, double disc, hump (not flat) floor, stiking similarities to the Suzuki Burgman. The one big difference among them is the 4-valve head of the DT 300i.

Crossbolt the 300I has 29.5 horsepower and 18 ft lbs torque where the Xicting has 20.6 horsepower and 15.4 ft lbs torque so a hefty increase for a 50cc gain.  My 500 Xicting only has 8.2 more horsepower but the ft lbs of torque jumps to 30.5.

Cruising on the highway the 250 Xciting runs closer to Red Line at 70. Where the 500 Xicting is just loping along at 70. I normally run about 60 on the county roads so either will do the job.

If you’re looking for a ride which will comfortably cruise at 60/70, then in the words of the old adage, there ain’t no substitute for cubes?

I traded up from a 125 for a 300 because of this and already find myself eyeing up the 400 for this reason. Can’t really justify the outlay yet though, but who knows, maybe my dealer will make me an offer I can’t refuse?...

The 250'S will actually do what's required of them but understand completely,  the old saying no replacement for displacement.  I still have the 500's for high speeds  if needed. The 300 looks like a good all around machine.

I've been toying with getting something with more CCs for a while, but as I'm only going into the office once a week now (as soon as I'm allowed at all), I don't think I can justify a new vehicle for a weekly trip.
Rides;

Suzuki GW250 Inazuma (2016)
Honda C70C (red, 1983)
