How many of you ride both motorcycles and scooters.
« on: June 19, 2020, 07:01:27 PM »
This topic came up in another thread so I'm asking.  How many of you ride both motorcycles and scooters?  I often jump off a motorcycle and then on to a scooter or vice versa.

Here's my collection:

The scooter is my primary bike but I do ride a motorcycle fairly often.

now THAT's a bike collection! One bike can never do it all....but multiple bikes can! I like your collection..sport touring, dual sport / dirt bike, big touring scooter and smaller, city focused scooter. The right tool for the job.

I ride my Ninja 300 the majority of the time...have only averaged less than 200 miles/yr on the scoot over the past 5 years.

Where do you live Klav - the Trueman show?

I only have room for one set of wheels and the DT is my first scooter. I have ridden / owned many types of motorcycle in the past. From Yamaha and Suzuki 2 strokes to BMW tourers.

All fun in their own way.

Yes I do.  Been riding motorcycles since 1982 and scooters since 2005.  I enjoy the heck out of both, and don't care what people think.

No  longer have motorcycle---but at 81, daily rider since 1955, over 1.5 million miles 2 wheel, but purchased over 75 new bikes/ scooters in that time----beside difficulty of getting on sometimes, I find no center stand or enclosed chain sucks.   2019 XTown 300i works fine....except air/wind management, price fine, OEM tires not great.

I first got a scooter 1 1/2 yr ago w zero interest in motorcycles.  Changed my mind after a couple months for 2 reasons.  Wanted more power and stability for the occasional ride on roads of 55+ mph (not interstates though), and something to share the miles with so the scooter wouldn't be worn out in 4-5 yrs, as I was riding at a pace of 12K miles/yr.

The Rebel 250 works out great functionally and size wise, and complements the scooter well.  They are just different enough to provide variety, and each one makes me appreciate the other.  The cost of owning both vs one is negligible (annual tag and $10 extra insurance).  Split miles pretty evenly, and w the Rebel capable of 80K+ miles, the scooter should be good for 8 or so more years.  Currently 11K on the scoot, 7K on the Rebel.  Scoot gets 100 mpg on 93 octane, m/c 75 mpg on 87, which works out to the same ¢ per mile gas wise.
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

I don't think I've had a bike for 4 or 5 years now, and I don't really feel much of a pull to have them again. I had my first scooter (Lexmoto Gladiator, quality piece of kit at £180) and remember being struck at how good the weather protection was, and how well it did the winter commute (I didn't have a car until relatively recently) and how little maintenance it needed.

I'm not saying I wouldn't ride a bike again - just that I prefer scooters, I think.

My riding mates all prefer bikes.

I would like a big bike so I could keep up on rides to form riding mates. Big as in 300-400cc maximum.
