Master Cylinder question
« on: June 24, 2020, 12:36:24 AM »
Hello,
I am new to scooters and have a 2014 Agility 50.  I noticed the diaphragm looking thing on the front seems to be damaged.  What is this thing, and is this a concern?  I have attached a picture with an arrow pointing to what I am talking about

That is a "sight glass" to let you see what the quantity of brake fluid is inside.

Thank you.  So it being damaged is a bad thing.  I'll have to replace that right away.

Damaged in what way?  Is it cracked?  Is it leaking?

It is cracked, and looks like it was pushed in.  It is wet around the area, but not leaking.

It could get worse and begin leaking.  If it's not leaking and your brakes are working it would seem you are okay.  Loss of fluid will of course lead to braking issues.  And if brake fluid drips on a painted surface the paint will be damaged.  Some manufacturers list a replacement sight glass for the master cylinder.  Kymco does not show that part as available (only the complete master cylinder).  Keep an eye on it.
