How to Remove Dash Console - GV 250
« on: June 29, 2020, 04:36:42 PM »
I've got a 2009 Kymco Grand Vista 250.  It started out that I needed to attach the speedometer cable to the bottom of the dash console.  Couldn't quite get my fingers in there to do it while the dash console was still attached to the plastic fairing.  I would also like to take apart the dash console and electrically repair the non-working dash light.
But, THE KILLER IS getting the dash console off the scooter.  I've removed the mirrors.  Nope.  I've taken about every nut and screw out of the front fairing.  Nope.
So, does anyone have any step by step instructions on getting that darn dash console off the scooter.  I can't seem to find anything in the shop manual.
Thanks,
TonyinCNY

Could we get a photo of exactly the part you're having trouble with?

Thanks, Stig

This is a know and very annoying problem with Kymco on the Grand Vista.  I lived with the problem for at least two years and then I had to take action.

Yes, I did this in sept 2016.  It took me about 5 hours total but that included taking lots of pictures.  It is way harder that it looks to take that speedometer off and I have to thank Rudolf for the info about the inverter and some photos.  Building off his work I took more pictures and after doing the repair and 12K + miles later the problem has never returned.  This and the exhaust that crack at about 12K miles are serious Kymco defects in the Grand Vista aka Grand Dink aka Bet&Win 250.
