DIY Top Box Bracket for my Agility.
« on: June 29, 2020, 06:53:57 PM »
Some photos of a top box bracket I made for my Agility some time ago.
I just used a piece of aluminium sheeting, aluminium angle, 10mm threaded bar, and a couple of bolts and nuts.
The bottom bracket has been raised to mount the top box a bit higher - I just liked the top box to be in a slight higher position.

That's quite a project!
Surprised that Kymco, or someone else does not make a simple topcase mounting for the very popular Agility!
That scoot is like the bread & butter of Kymcos.

Thanks for the pix.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Is that the Agility City or did you just change the rack? I bolted a box to the stock rack on my 2016 125. Nice Project.

The rack is not standard. I bought my Agility 2nd hand and the previous owner had a bracket made for the original rack. He kept the rack when traded the Agility at a dealer, and the salesman gave me a rack from another scooter. The rack didn’t fit and I made brackets to mount the rack.
I actually gave the salesman a hard time about the rack which didn’t fit, but the guy was young and I eventually felt sorry for him. He was in trouble at work about the rack, couldn't find another rack, so I decided to make brackets and just used the rack he gave me.

Kymco racks definitely need attention, just like Kymco windshield mounting points!  I had to cut my Kymco Sento rack and weld on some angle-iron extensions in order to hold a luggage bin.  Even more annoying is that the rack had to be hinged because the fuel-filler is under the luggage bin.  Go figger! (Added some not-so-obvious info): The hinged bin is held down by the seat.  To access the fuel filler, I simply unlock the seat and tilt the bin backward.

Nice jobs, scooterfan and JJJoseph!

Thanks, another photo of the top box can be seen below. I actually decided to mount the top box a bit higher, for two reasons:

1. I just thought the scooter would look a bit better in general.
2. My two local granddaughters often wants to go for a ride, and I thought a higher top box might ad some safety and support them better.

I am a member of several motorcycle groups and got in contact with a guy who designed a stunning bracket for his motorcycle's top box. The bracket has hinges and a back rest in front of the top box. During a solo ride the whole setup can be moved forward to support the rider's back. With two-up the whole setup can be hinged backwards to the top box's normal position . The guy's design is a brilliant idea, and I think he can make a fortune just by patenting this design. He sent me some videos, photos, and even drawings of his design. I am thinking of adapting his idea for a similar setup on my scooter whenever I have time in future.
I will upload and forward some photos of the guy's setup to show what it looks like.

Two photos of the brackets the guy designed and installed himself. When the setup gets hinged to the forward or rear position, it gets held in position by a spring loaded pin and it can't move anywhere.

That's really neat.

Does anyone know if the Agility 50 partial seat fit the 125? I would like to use a locking gas cap and the single seat for a larger rack area. It is a nuisance unstrapping cross duffels to open the seat for a gas fill(especially now that I get about 42-45 mpg).
