Sorry guys for d=the delay in responding. I've had so much work on recently I've not really had the time to anything with the bike. I should have explained further. Yeah, the ignition barrel is the bit where the key goes in. It was damaged by some oyk who tried to steal it and is in the "ON" position permanently. The previous owner was running the scoot and to switch it off would simply pull the connector out of the CDI.
I have since sourced an ignition barrel (lock) set from a supplier in Italy although because of covid it is taking a real long time to arrive. Once I've replaced that I can start investigating the electrical gremlins.
The main trouble appears to be with the lights. I've read that the Light Control Module is rubbish and some people simply by-pass it. I don't know at this stage whether the problem with the lights is the LCM or the switchgear. I'm guessing the former so I'll either buy a new one ore by-pass it like some owners do.
The bike rides really well. the engine is great and pulls strongly from standstill up to about 60 mph (with me on board. With the missus on board it may even nudge 70!).
I rode it to work the other day and it did something really weird, it started bucking in time with the indicators (blinkers). Once I switched off the indicators the bike ran smoothly again. I suspect the previous owner did quite a lot of buggering around with the internal organs but my guess is that the LCM is shagged.
Any hints/tips will be greatly appreciated, thank you. It seems to me that the Super 8 125 is quite rare. It doesn't even have it's own section on this forum! This is my first foray into Kymco and, apart from the gremlins, what a cracking little scoot. I will post a pic as soon as I can. Thanks again!
