Like 200i trans lube drain/fill plug gaskets
« on: July 14, 2020, 02:17:37 PM »
I've been looking for the equivalent Toyota drain plug gasket for the drain/fill gear lube plugs.  I found and bought 50 "crunch" gaskets with an 8 mm interior (hole) diameter.  They are manufactured by Uxcell and are sold by Amazon for $8.99.  They don't appear to be special in any way but they will give an opportunity to use  two fresh gaskets each time I replace the 75W-90 gear lube.

Good find!
Way too often these drain and fill bolts/plugs are tightened too much and strip the case.
I crush washer is the way to go.....
What are these made of?
Genuine "crush" washers are hard to find --- the kind a/c VW owners are used to using....or are like those found on most spark plugs. Use them once....and they crush.
Most often I have to rely on a copper washer....which really isn't all that much softer than alloy cases.

These appear to be a hard aluminum alloy.  I don't see how they would "clink" when "crushed."  I actually haven't used them yet but at least they have the required 8 mm interior diameter.  I will still talk to a Toyota parts guy when I get to a Toyota dealership.

I use the larger Toyota teflon coated drain plug washers for the engine oil changes.

First is to know the size you need-----Having lived/ridden 25 years in Germany, the Germans love crush washers! You ought to see the number of washers in a air cooled BMW Bike oil change kit....for whole bike   I think the oil drain plug on my XTown 300i is flat washer, I just re-use it like the Japanese do.

With most Likes ridden extreme low mileage (Under 10,000 a year)  I would not bother to change rear end oil, for a least 2-3 years....but of course check lube level not and then
