The scooter job you hate...

I hate checking the air in the tires.
Crawl on floor, none of my 3 gauges agree, hard to get in there to clip on the air hose, loses air when I release it....clip on again. ..lose more...gauges argue.
Close 2nd is getting to the brake reservoirs, because takes forever to get mirrors to stop moving after I reinstall them. Just waiting for the mirror stem to break out/strip from the cast reservoir assembly.

get high quality pencil gauge---US made if you can still find them.


Air hose, get chucks that work!!  clip on suck.  Again us made, some of my Harbor Freight chucks are not perfect.

While checking the tire pressure in the GV is a Royal Pain with 12" tires and brake rotors about the same size. Putting it away for winter is the worst.

I don't know why - it's completely illogical. I mean, I am holding a pump in my hand.

It's the small amount of time between when you undo the air chuck lock and you get it off the valve stem. How much air did I lose in the process?

Checking valves.
Makes me wish for a naked bike...The S200 was annoying since you had to take off essentially the whole cover..not as bad as ya think but adds 20 minutes+ of the 30 minute job.
The SYM's a bit better. Just pull one cover, but four valves.
The Burgman is horrific.  Tight space, gotta move the radiator, tough to get the gauges in, hard to both see and seat the valve cover gasket..makes a real mess if leaking..then ya gotta dig back in to reseat it..

accessing the front brake fluid reservoir...total pain in the rear to pull apart the handlebar covers...difficult fussy and very easy to scratch and damage stuff if not careful. Sure wish Kymco would just put a simple access cover over it.

Changing tyres. I've been having something of a refresh of rubber on my three steeds over the last few weeks; one on original rubber from 1981, one set that's cracked and a pair on my C70. I have a horrible feeling the front tyre on the C70 was original - despite the bike being on and off the road quite a bit over the last 38 years. Anyway, brand new rubber for all!

I just use the bottle the gear oil comes in. Take the top and bottom plugs out stick the bottle nozzle into the bottom hole and squeeze until gear oil comes out the top vent. Remove nozzle and use finger to block hole until you can put the bottom plug in.

I tried the cheap nylon syringes....but found a plastic meat injector with screw-on needle to work much more smoothly. Plunger is easier to use....clip the needle tip with wire cutters and/or slip on a plastic tube thing that comes inside some spray bottles.

Found the tube add-on great for withdrawing a bit of engine oil if you over fill!

Gotta be careful with this method as it doesn’t work with all scoots. My S 200 takes 180ml of gear oil. If you were to fill it until it ran out of the fill hole you’d put significantly more in there. That results in it coming out the vent into the air box and soaking the air filter.  How do I know this? Previous owner of my scoot (who worked at a scooter shop, of all places) filled it this way and my air filter was completely soaked with gear oil when it was delivered to me.

It would be much simpler to allow filling until it ran out of the fill hole...but, oh, well.
