Just washed my XTown 300i
« on: July 15, 2020, 03:51:50 PM »
Just washed my XTown----I do not believe in pressure washers, unless you like wheel bearing failure in the middle of a trip...

My favorites used to be Harley Gunk or Triumph TRICOR cycle bath----the tree huggars have put them off the shelves.  But in WI, Fleet Farm, you can still get Gunk in dairy supplies, cut with diesel works fine on bikes.
Right now, WalMart Engine Degreaser spray on works, paint  brush helps in tight  places. Today I used Dawn on plastic parts. Normal some sort of car wash stuff that doesn't take wax off....but today bike has lots of old dirt to get off.

Right now my scooter is getting only 100-200 miles a week, so does not get very dirty.  But I know 3-4 day trip in rain/mud/snow/salt really makes bike dirty.  After one trip to Alaska about 15 years ago  on my Honda CB750 NightHawk it took  me 6 months to get the mud out of the fins!  I am not liking being locked down.

Haven't washed my X-Town in a while, but did give the Streety a bath yesterday.  Looks a treat again now!
Regards & ride safe,

That Harlet Gunk, what color was it, John? Is it the same stuff in dairy supplies?
