New intake mods. Looking for thoughts
« on: July 26, 2020, 01:39:18 AM »
I'm working on a new intake for my a50. The mods to just my intake tube and carb smoothing have done me well. I got some plugs to do some chops with. MJ is currently a 90 with stock 35 slow. New mods going on are pictured and currently making a ram air scoop. Forgive the blue. It's what I have the most of currently lol. Plans are scoop for gathering air, use the high pressure in the scoop drawn down the venturi with arms to speed it up and smooth it. Into a bigger plenum to slow it down a bit. Then the other velocity stack to direct it to the carb.

Yeah, I have a few other pieces I'm making as well. I'll have the main scoop done today, I hope. And the square venturi I'm making 2 more with slightly bigger nose cones to help scale the air in through there to the plenum box. And finally working on a better shell to mount it all to. Then I'll see where my jetting is. Currently I have the main drilled out to a 90. And running the stock filter I need 2 shims under the needle to get it to run and accelerate.  I tried it in the stock box but it definitely runs better with more air. I found this out by putting a small piece of cloth over the snorkel inlet which was opened up and as soon as I twisted the throttle it died. Removed the shims of the needle and same deal
