S9 Mod's Basics
« on: October 03, 2010, 01:26:15 PM »
Hi all.  I'm a newbie to scootering and to the S9.  I just bought mine a few weeks ago through Craigslist - it's a Liquid Cooled 2005.  Since I bought it, I've fully derestricted it.  Now that I'm able to go up to about 47 mph on a slight downhill, I want to know how the different mods will affect its performance so I can make it even more fun.  I've looked through all the posts, but I can't seem to find a break down of what the diffent mods are and what they will do for it, so I thought I'd start my own and see what everybody's elses experience is.

Here is what I know (at least for a LC Super 9):
Mod 1: Disconnect Green Wire at CDI
Effect: Disables rev limiter.  Top speed increases from about 28 mph to around 38 mph

Mode 2: Remove Variator Boss and Machine the "Hat" Portion down
Effect: Changes final drive ratio and increases top speed from around 38 to around 47 mph.

Here are the upgrades I know of.  I would like to know what they do to affect performance:
- Upgrade to Variator Rollers
- Upgrade to High Performance Variator
- Upgrade to 70CC Kit
- Upgrade to High Performance Exhaust
- Upgrade to Clutch Springs (I think that is what they are)

Please feel free to add any other mods that I haven't listed above.

Thanks a lot!!!

-Michael

...you can both do ALL the mods, without the 70cc and gain performance...

..but i see one, crucial element missing from the list...

..replacing the oem airbox with a free-flow air filter...

..that's what i'd do FIRST, even along with the performance exhaust..all with an increase in the size of the main jet in your carburetor...

..oh, and Welcome to th' Forum!!..both you guys!!!

peace

I have an 07 air cooled super9 and I see you suggested a free flow filter, if I would put a clamp on filter on what sizes jets do I need to run in the carb and where could I get the jets for it .
THANKS
