Speedo not working??
« on: October 03, 2010, 03:08:53 PM »
Hi all,

My speedo is not working. It shows nothing during riding.. the needle doesnt move and also the mileage on my clock doesnt alter either. I had a look at the front wheel.. spinned it round a couple of times and there seems to be like crunching of the bearings inside.

Do any of you know how to rectify it??

Thanks.

...well, either your wheel bearings, or maybe just the speedo gears have kicked the bucket...

..a thorough inspection is now in order...

If the speedometer cable end is not put back correctly this can happen.  You can try removing it on the wheel end, and with the wheel propped up, you can try to spin the wheel and gently push the cable end back, in hopes that it will "catch" when it lines up down there.  I would first unscrew the cable from the top end, below the speedometer, and pull out the long, springy center of the cable--the part that actually spins, as transmitted from the wheel.  Have a look at the length of it, and consider greasing it.  Also look at the bottom end of that piece and see if it's all crunched up. If so, you're probably looking at replacing the speedometer cable, if not also the part within the wheel assembly that spins with the wheel and transmits that motion to the speedometer.  Good luck and please report back how it goes.  --Mike D.

My previous reply was based upon experience with my Bet & Win 250.  It probably applies to yours too.  See also
