Front Brake Sqeaking
« on: October 04, 2010, 07:20:26 PM »
Hello again! :)

My front brake whenever I pull it in and out of my drive and when I ride at low speed (< 10MPH), it will sqeak (really high pitch). I know it's the front brake as when I move it on its own (on the stand), it makes the noise. Do the brakes need bleeding or the calipers readjusting?

Cheers,
Scott!

to be honest i dont think theres anything wrong at all,you could try 1 of 2 things 1 changing your pads for after market ones 2 or you could also remove the pads that are in there and smear a lil copper grease (ON THE BACK SIDE OF PADS NOT BRAKING SURFACE) the key word here is a little, squeaks on front disk brakes tend to be vibration the grease will or should supress this.Let me know how it goes bud :) ps the grease worked for me ;)

Cheers mate! I'll have another look tomorrow and get back to you. Is it possible to move the pads a mm away from the rotor or are they set?

Also, as a side note, I've checked the oil and cleaned the air box. Is there any other maintenance I should do?

take the pads out and lightly grease the backs, then post again if you got issues ;)re maintainance your plug could do with a once over too bud and a genaral inpection of nuts and bolts as they tend to come lose :)

And don't forget to check those valve clearances.  If you haven't downloaded the agility service manual you should do so.

There are links to it posted on the site - just search service manuals.

Cheers mate!

..dude..you from th' land down under??

 ;D

..yours is a 2007, right...which i reckon you bought used...

..brake "squeal" is nothing much to worry about, as long as you're stopping ok...

..some pad compositions squeal more than other..

..now a..."grinding" noise should raise a bit of concern..

I get a really unhealthy sound while breaking. It's hard to describe... I'll get the service manual and see what that has to say too.

"Unhealthy"...how so? And do you mean you here a noise all the time, or only when you apply the brake?

Yeah...squeaks...I read "unhealthy" and thought maybe he meant a different or new type of noise...

..it'll probably go away once you ride it for a few kms...

..especially if it's been setting for a while when you bought it...
