Another tire question

Yamaha majesty 400 tires. The original radials are still on the bike and dry rotted. Looking at tires on line I can find bias ply but not radials in the size I need. I have found Metzler feel free and Mitchell and power pure with the Metzler having the most aggressive tread. Can find a city grip for the rear but not the front 120/80-14.  Should I serch for radials?  My understanding is bias ply have  softer ride? Metzler tires any good? They don't get talked about on the forum. 

Low mileage is not always a good thing. Both the Kymco 250  Xicting and Yamaha 400  Majesty have the same issues. Both under 2k miles.  Both look like brand new from sitting in a garage unused for years.

Had Metzlers on an old Beemer of mine and didn’t like them. Never had an issue with Michelins or Pirellis. Also used Dunlop in the past on sports bikes and loved ‘em.

I tried a City Grip on the back of my Majesty.  It worked fine but wore out quickly.  I've been running the Metzler Feel Frees since.  They work great.  They last longer than the City Grip did but not as long as I'd like.

How many miles do the feel frees last?

The original tires look like brand new tread wise but I see sidewall cracking.

What did you not like about the Metzler's.  I'm not concerned about wet weather since it's a accident if I get caught in the rain.

Majesty as old design, was designed for bias ply tires.

I have had good luck with Michelin Power Pure SC on both Burgman 400's and Honda SilverWing 600's.   I use Ride On as Balancing medium.    Advantage of Power Pure SC----the rear round!

The original tires were bias ply after looking at the tires.   Scooter has 1300. Total Miles with the original 15 year old tires that look like new, other then the sidewall cracking.

Very sensitive to white lines here at anything over 25% worn - maybe would be too on your tar snakes? Yes wet weather “feel” was vague also.

If you can get City Grips in the right sizes, give them a whirl.

Keep in mind that I wear out tires faster than most riders.  I got 3800 miles out of a rear City grip.  The Metzlers have typically lasted around 5K on the rear and 7K on the front. 

Remember, I ride my scooters like they are sport bikes and ride a lot of really twisty roads.   I once wore out a rear Dunlop Sport Max tire in 750 miles on an SV650.

I decided to try a set of  Pirelli angels for the Majesty.

  Now need to buy another set of tires for the Orange. I was going to try the Metzler's feel free on it. The trouble is they make the rear tire size but not the front tire size.  Ironically the Michelin City Grips are less money.

Since I have multiples of the same scooter I was going to try different tire configurations where I could ride them and compare to see what I liked best.
