Hey guys, this post might be a little long so bear with me.
I installed a Tecnigas type R exhaust today and here is what happened. After the installation i went out for a test drive and noticed that it had a very spotty power band. It would basically be slow off the line, i could feel acceleration from 10 to 20mph and than slow to 30ish and it would barely top 35 (i was going 40 mph before the swap) I also noticed that after idling for 30 secs or more it would be peppy of the line but it would slowly lose power as i rode around, when i let it idle for a while again it would perform well for a few seconds and gradually lose power. I tinkered with the carb and then air box trying various settings and found that increasing the airflow (tried running without the airbox cover for a few seconds) did not help. Played around with the main mixture needle and found that it would not make a huge difference in performance weather i screwed it in or out.
Now i did not change the jet and i suppose it does need to be changed but i did not think i would lose power if i did not change it, i thought it would stay the same and i would get a slightly better acceleration. Also the pipe came with some roller weights, i did not install them because i did not have my tool to lock the crankshaft on hand. I will try to install the roller weights latter next week and see what happens.
And finally last question, there was a rubber tube that ran to a small plastic box type thing that connected to the stock exhaust, however there is no port for this thing on the new exhaust, does anyone know what it is?
thanks for the help, it is greatly appreciated, i cant wait to make the most out of this pipe.
