Digital voltmeter installed #1

Hi fellow Like 200i drivers,
you know how it is if you find an electronic item which has been sitting in your e-storage box for ages. Well, l started to think where on my ride to put.
Found a place righthand on the panel.
But where to get the juice from? After a while of hard thinking (an real issue for me), the only logical source for me would be this 12 V socket within the glove-box.
Here the story starts.
To access the rear end of mentioned socket, the front and lower plastic fairings have to go.
Actually pretty easy after you take out all Ph screws, slide the lower one forward and down.
First you remove the "tie" in front, then remove this 6 mm screw which holds the front fairing in place and carefully pry the front forward down off.
Now you have free sight to all kind of relays and described socket.
Changing and adding cables from "digital voltmeter" is pretty straight forward.
Shows me now my battery and charging status at all time, if ignition is on.
Afterwards testride brought me to a very scenic place, " Monte San Michele" where italians 3rd Army had its HQ during 1st WW.

Also, why do I need one on a scooter?
It should read what:
1) Key on, motor off?
2) Motor at idle?
3) Riding at moderate speed?

Yes Stig, you are absolutely right, l should have said, why.
In my humble thinking l do see what my scooters electrical and charging system is doing at all times. (pls see pics)
1) key on ignition 12.2 V
means to me, ok, battery healthy so far
2) next 11.5 V during revving to start, good, does not fall under 10 V means battery fine
3) shows at idle and light on 13 V, fine too
4) then 13.9 during moderate revvs while riding
shows me my alternator is properly charging and more important, my regulator is doing its job keeping the current constant.
Of course its not a must have on a healthy and owner maintained motorcycle but is for me an additional check to see whether one of my electrical gimmicks is giving in or still behaving.

Nice job! That voltmeter is a little over one inch by about 2 inches, isn't it? I saw some of those on both Banggood.com and Amazon. I think I might prefer something a bit smaller. They do exist but most are open circuit boards on the back. Stig has a tiny tach on his like thar is about the right size...wonder if his guys do voltmeters....?

yes, its about this size you wrote.
And yes, it will not win a fashion trophy. Honestly l would have preferred a smaller and round one to match more..... But like l wrote in my opening it was sitting in my storage and just asking to be put on.
Additionally its waterproof and sealed at its cables exit. To be sure l had belt and suspenders l put a drop of neutral silicon glue there before glueing it down with small double-adhesive strips.
There are many more in quite a lot of sizes and shapes available.
