Just a strainer like Neil said. No filter.

Thank you. So do  you just clean the screen instead of replacing it?

Any idea where I can find the items/parts that need to be replaced/cleaned during maintenance?

I've been trying to find info on fuel and air filters and the information I've come across isn't very consistent.

Is there an online seller that has the needed filters?

I have seen the items for sale on ebay but shipping from UK can be expensive. The Kymco dealers in the U.S. that I have called don't even sell maintenance items.

Yes you clean it.

Unless it's completely dead, then you'll have to change it.

Nothing needs to be purchased (except a litre of oil).  Just clean the screen and replace.  Careful though: when you unscrew the drain plug, there's a spring inside and the screen & spring bits will fly apart.  Unscrew it carefully so you see how it goes back together.
