Good online sources for Kymco parts?
« on: October 18, 2020, 11:16:30 PM »
Anyone have favorite websites for Kymco parts?
In my case, specifically the People GT 300i.

I'm looking to replace the Puig windscreen it came with when I bought it; a couple years ago someone backed into my scoot and just getting around to replacing it.  It's a barn-door but awfully nice in the colder weather.

I know models fit/some don't because of the difference in front blinker placement for US models.

I did have a couple sources but they are both gone now. If someone can make a suggestion I need to order a few parts myself. Thanks in advance, Vic

Hey, Vic.  I knew I recognized that Yellow Jacket name from someplace.  Maybe a KLR website at one time.  Maybe a long ago conversation at a Tour de Tellico gathering of mostly KLR's.  I also see your comments on FSSNOC.

Eamartin, Wow, you go way back and must have a very sharp memory. Yes, I was at Telico 2-3 years, back in the KLRWorld days. Now it's mostly scooters for me. Even made a trip last night to my local drag strip and made a few passes with the Kymco. So you are a FSSNOC'er too. Good for you. Had planned to go to Goshen this year but the Corona foiled that. Have you been to any of the past cafe's? Might have spoken to each other.

Thanks Yellow Jacket, appreciate the URL.

I see that you've ridden a BV250 in the past.  I really like my Kymco People 300 that I'm riding but if it ever goes kaput, it looks like the BV350 is my only choice for newer big wheel scooters around the 300 cc range.  Any thoughts on the BV?

It looks like Kymco is still selling the equivalent of the People GT 300i but not in the US (I see it in Europe).  I suppose there's just not a big-enough market to justify the $$ to make the mods to the Euro models to meet US specs.  A shame.

I got a Puig Traffic for wife's GTi300 a couple of years ago  direct from a dealer in Greece. About 100  USD including shipping.

Vic,  I was at 2 of the FSSNOC thumper cafes.  One at the Bixby Store in Bixby, MO (on a 2002 KLR).  And one at the Little Bear in Centennial, Wyoming (on a 1997 KLR) (got the sticker to prove that one).

My BV was an early carbureted version. Lovd it, rode it to a Maxi Scoots rally in St Louis, Mo., about 2000 miles in 6 days. That's what made me go for the Kymco. Very similar, just more power. Have thought about a BV350 but not quite ready to get rid of the Kymco. Have 17K miles on it and the only real issue was the oil seal on the rear axel. Somehow it went in to the transmission and coated the rear wheel with oil. Was able to replace it without too much trouble. BTW, if you are interested in a performance boost, try DR Pulley 15 gr. sliders. New with less that 1K miles bike went 11.36 sec. @ 60 mph in 1/8 mile at my local dragstrip. Last week with the DR. Pulley sliders and 17K miles it went 10.52 @ 63.76 mph.  The more miles on it the better it seems to run. I've tested several scooters at the strip and except for the BV350 and possibly the BMW 400,  the Kymco is the quickest single cylinder scooter available.

I was looking at Parts Outlaw the other day vs the same parts from Solano Cycle. Pats Outlaw has a $4.99 shipping special vs Solano Cycle had $24 shipping to my address (Iowa).  Parts prices were the same but the shipping difference was huge!

I'm starting to have my doubts about Parts Outlaw. Been 30 days since my order and nothing yet. Looking at their web page they have to buy the parts from Kymco then ship to customer. Order confirmation says Dec. 3 latest delivery. Still hoping. Now I don't even see a way to order Kymco parts from them.

well that's not a good development...their website even gives you the Kymco Corporate contact info if you want to find info on any parts orders..wonder what that means?

..and they don't list Kymco as one of their brands..

Update on Kymco parts on line. I have received an email from Deland Motorsports of a shipment. Called them because I hadn't ordered anything from them for several months. Turns out they are the same as Parts Outlaw. Yes, their web page shows Kymco parts. Probably makes no difference if you order from Outlaw or Deland so here is link to Deland Motorsports.
