Downtown lighting, dummy blinker question
« on: October 21, 2020, 04:03:44 PM »
Trying to figure out the dummy light turn signals but have not taken fairings off yet.

Are there sockets in place and just a dummy bulb?
I've read the wires are there but the grounds have been cut.

Have any of you done this mod or the mirror blinker running light with success...if so, how?

Also, have read the LEDs in place of stock  are no good but are HID's any better as far as optics and not blinding oncoming traffic?

Trying to do something to get noticed even better without doing a modulator..and yes I already ride with High Viz helmet and jacket. Appreciate the input!

Mine has sockets with dead bulbs no wires at all.

I played with LED's but rejected them due to wild, blinding patterns. HID looks like the logical substitution since the bulb is nearly identical to the halogen. The only unknown is how long the ballast units last. I have very seriously considered HID and De dee in Canada has installed them on his DT300i.

you're far ahead of my People S200! My 'everywhere else in the world but the U.S.' faux blinkers have no socket, bulb or wires. In place of a socket is a hard, gray, putty like substance, pressed into the hole where the socket would go, probably to keep out any water.

Converting them to led bulb running lights would be great but probably not happening.
