Dash Lights & Clock
« on: October 23, 2020, 01:00:12 AM »
My dash lights went out and the clock stopped working. Anyone know of a tutorial on how to fix these? Don't see any youtube videos.

Wiring diagram.
Fuses.
Wiring connectors.
Grounding points.
What works and what does not?

The dash has gone completely dark and the clock hasn't been working for a year. I suspect the rectifier problem this summer blew out the dash lights. I don't know where to start other than taking random bolts off.

Random not good. Got to have a plan. Do you have a voltage tester or meter?

Next, google wiring diagram for that model and download owner's manual...

The owners manual doesn't cover it and the service manual isn't clear about it IMO.

Looking at the wiring diagram, do I have this right? The dashboard only has 3 lights?

2 x 12v, 1.7w
1 x 12v, 3.4w

Are these two above, 194 lights?

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=194+led+bulb+amber&linkCode=sl2&linkId=b2d32077948181a127a0ab258b2eb4a3&tag=micbe04-20&ref=as_li_ss_tl

If you put a 12v 1.5w bulb into a 1.7w or 3.4w outlet I assume the bulb will burn out? How do you shop for the correct wattage? Don't see 1.7w or 3.4w bulbs.

@Vision, NO, those glassbulbs will, as long as they are 12 V rated, not burn out if you put 1,5 W instead 1,7 or 3,4 Ws. Only lights dimmer. You can take any from 1,2 until 3,2 Ws. Take what you can get from an AutoShop like Checkers or....
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

Well, the 194 lights do not fit. The light on the left is a burned out OEM and on the right is a 194. Does anyone know what bulb is used for the dashboard?

The OEM light above is from #7 which may not be a dash light but a turn signal light.
